to your question, well yes Islam allows Muslim male to marry Christians and jews without them converting base on Muhammad who married a coptic egyptian without she converting. Infact she gave birth to Muhammad son Ibrahim who died later when still a child. But Malay Clerics deny this because they say that the Christians and Jews were the original one not those from the west. So grudgingly they accept Arafat's wife who was a christian but not Tun Suffian's wife who was the former lord president as Christian whom was said to convert at her deathbed! Suharto's wife Ibu Tien has to convert to Islam although formerly she was Christian! I hope this help!
